Dance of the Cockatrice

The photographic images depict myself in performative tableaus during a live gallery performance. I locked my gaze on a single visitor until he or she looked away. Due to the change in my movements, body heat, and sweat, my artificial skin teared away until natural flesh was completely revealed.

, references both Warhol's camouflage paintings and Yves Klein's painted body performances to express fluctuating identities and the pressure of the individual to blend into society. It is about a changing identity that must adapt and renegotiate an environment like a chameleon. The cockatrice is a mythical hybrid (half-serpent, half-rooster), which could turn humans to stone with its gaze.
